Betsy Hughes
Statement
As a self taught fabric artist I have enjoyed working with various art forms through the years such as clothing and bridal design, quilting, felt art, cloth doll design, fabric sculpting, and fabric and wood fusion.
I love color, and lots of it! Inspiration for most of my pieces basically comes from everyday surroundings….nature, people, books, fabrics, and life itself! What I love most is that I have no boundaries in my art word…I create from within where I may brew a tiny idea for some time before it is taken into the studio and developed into a beautiful piece of art….and most of the time with a story behind it! My art often is a reflection of me or my thoughts, as I think is the case with most artists! I enjoy the learning process as well as researching, finding new techniques, or just simply searching for the perfect rich, bold, and colorful fabrics.
