Joan Fonseca
Joan C. Fonseca has studied art and fashion for over 25 years. Originally from Philadelphia, Joan spent ten years in Chicago before transferring to Florida, arriving just days ahead of a welcoming committee of three hurricanes that hit the Orlando area that year. Recently, she had a one woman exhibit at the Steinway Piano Gallery where she presented 21 pieces of the three collections she worked on over last year. Joan is a member of the Seminole County Art Guild and participates in their events and neighborhood art strolls.
Her Doll House Series-. In these painting I have tried to capture the whimsical nature of women that can come out at any time. In every grown woman, there is still a little girl wanting to play dress-up, and I have let my creations try on everything in the closet!
Funky Hat Series- These paintings express a woman's right to be alternatively serious or playful, and in these paintings, each woman decides to exhibit that in the hat she chooses to wear (Kentucky Derby anyone
The Floral Series of paintings allowed me to express my love for color in creatively combining mystical elements with nature.
I created many of these paintings using a mixture of media where the stems, leaves and butterflies (along with multiple other elements) are made from various types of papers, cloth, plastic, gems and other materials which overlay a foundational acrylic painting. Each piece is unique as the foundations and overlays fight for supremacy, depending on how I felt they should relate to each other as they were being painted.
